About Cruse Bereavement Care

Cruse Bereavement Care is a national organisation and is a registered charity. It was started in Great Britain in 1959 and now has over 130 branches. It has no connection with any church or faith. Help and support is given free.

Cruse in Cornwall, founded in June 1982 is one of the branches. Each year our support and help is sought by over 500 bereaved people throughout Cornwall. Our contribution to personal healing and wellbeing following bereavement, is recognised and widely used by professional organisations.

In fulfilling its responsibilities in the community, Cruse in Cornwall has to look for support from both public and private funding. Recognising our contribution to the community, Cornwall Primary Care Trusts, Cornwall Social Services, Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust and many of the local District and Parish Councils in Cornwall are vital donors. Organisations such as Rotary and clubs and societies also give needed assistance.

All our Bereavement Volunteers and staff are selected for their suitability to give support in personal and confidential matters. In addition to the induction and training which they undergo prior to working with the bereaved, Cruse requires that they receive ongoing training. Regular and formal supervision ensures that the support and help they give, meets both the standards of Cruse Bereavement Care and the needs of the client.

All our services are strictly confidential and free of charge
